Unit 5 – Bridge
In this course you will use software to optimize bridge designs and then design and build your own bridge made from balsa wood.
Unit 6 – Thermal Energy
In this unit you will learn about thermal energy and how it differs from heat and temperature. Further, you will begin to build a foundational understanding of how energy flows in preparation for the Fluid Mechanics and Electrical Engineering course.
Unit 1 – Intro to FMEE
In this unit we will quickly review the important elements from Technology & Engineering Design including the Engineering Design Process, orthographic and isometric drawing, and Sketchup. We will finish with a review of thermal energy.
Unit 2 – Hydraulics and Pneumatics
In this unit you will build and study a putt putt boat to learn about hydraulics, pneumatics and propulsion systems.
Unit 3 – Aerodynamics
In this unit you will research, design and build a balsa wood glider.
Unit 4 – Electricity
In this unit you will explore basic DC circuits, communication and AC wiring.
Unit 5 – CO2 Racer
Teams will design, produce working drawings for and build a CO2-powered dragster to strict specifications.
